Peter Brümmer was born 1960 in Leer/Ostfriesland. After school he attended the Technical University Braunschweig for studies in electrotechnic/electronics. Later he went to cologne to study Jazz/Electric Bass at the Music University Cologne.
Due to his connections as a musician he got the opportunity to work in different studios and to continue his education as a sound engineer through »learning by doing«.
At that time he also started to work as a live engineer for companies like Maniac Media Service (RTL-Comedy Gala, Kölner Stunksitzung, Hella von Sinnen, Gabi Köster, Crazy Sex Idiots, Paul Kuhn Big-Band, Chris Barber, and of course also: Cologne-Carneval: Lachende Sporthalle…).
Jobs for e.g. WDR in recording trucks of the Dierks-Studios or for MTV at the big Sony Classical Recording Mobile of Harry Braun, through which he worked with artists like Fantastic Four, JJ.Cale, Mothers Finest, Aerosmith, Kiss, Backstreet Boys, Toto, Chaka Khan, Haindling, or Rock am Ring and others helped to broaden his experiences.
Due to family reasons he moved to Munich in 1998 and started to work for the Sound and Media Department of the Gasteig. 2002 he became Head of department. Since 2000 he is teaching the subject »recording studio« for the Jazz Institute of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Over the course of these years he made countless recordings for the Gasteig Munich GmbH and therefore recorded all HMT-Jazznights of the last decade.
Since January 1, 2023, he is no longer actively employed by Gasteig München GmbH and operates a certified Dolby Atmos studio in addition to his continued teaching activities.
