Workshop with Jiggs Whigham (USA) on April 26th.

On April 26th, Jiggs Whigham, one of the world's leading trombonists, will be a guest at the Jazz Institute for a workshop.

Whigham is one of the outstanding greats of jazz. He made his debut as soloist and first trombonist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra at age 17, and two years later was principal trombonist with Stand Kenton. Since then, Whigham, born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1943, has played with the "who's who" of jazz history: from Count Basie and Ray Charles to Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Zawinul, Ella Fitzgerald, Jamie Cullum and Till Brönner. Guest appearances have taken him, for example, to the Newport Jazz Festival in the USA and to the legendary Birdland in New York. He plays regularly throughout Europe at major festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival and has toured Asia with his music. He is currently the principal conductor of the BBC Big Band London.

We are very pleased to announce that Jiggs Whigham will be visiting the Jazz Institute on 4/26 for a workshop. From 10am-1pm he will be giving a workshop opened to all students of HMTM. From 2:30pm to 4:30pm there will be a BigBand workshop.
