Matthias Preißinger was born in 1956 and received his first piano lessons at the age of 8. After self-taught studies in jazz, he established himself as a keyboard player in the Munich jazz and fusion scene from 1976 onwards. Among others he played in Klaus Doldinger`s Passport and the Harald Rüschenbaum Bigband

.
From 1984-89 he studied classical composition at the Munich Academy of Music with Dieter Acker and Wilhelm Killmayer. After that, jazz became the focus of his musical activities again. Highlights of his career include concerts and tours with Paquito D'Rivera, Dave Valentin, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi and Robbie Ameen.
Among other things, he leads the "Hard days night Bigband" and teaches jazz theory at the University of Music and Theater.
