Jovanovic

Nemanja Jovanovic was born in 1973 in Belgrade / Serbia.

While still at school, he played as a temporary assistant with the radio big band Belgrade, where he also became a permanent member in 1995 after graduating from high school. At the same time he also studied classical trumpet at the University of Music in Belgrade with Prof. Mladen Djordjevic.

In 1997 he became the lead trumpeter of the broadcasting band Belgrade. During this time he worked with Clark Terry, Ray Charles, Alvin Queen, Roy Hargrove, Diane Schuur, Jerome Richardson, Ack van Rooyen, Dusko Gojkovic, Don Menza... During this time he was also the first trumpeter at the Belgrade Musical Theater, and more Part of various jazz and Latin bands and studio musicians.

From September 2003 postgraduate studies at the Richard Strauss Conservatory, Munich, in the trumpet class of Claus Reichstaller.

Since then he has played as lead trumpeter in the big bands of Al Porcino, Dusko Gojkovic, Bobby Burgess, Thilo Wolf, Pepe Lienhard, Conexion Latina, Swiss Army Band, Joe Heider Jazz Orchestra, Max Greger, Hugo Strassser, Ljubliana Radio Big Band , Turin Jazz Orchestra…

Collaboration with soloists such as: Claudio Roditi, Don Menza, Jay Ashby, Paquito d` Rivera, Lou Bega, Temptation, Four Tops, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Bergeron, David Garet, Mick Hucknall (Simpy Red), Joe Cocker, Dionne Warwick, Carla Bley, Udo Jürgens, Max Mutzke, ...

As lead trumpet player, he plays productions for the HR, SWR and WDR Big Band with guests such as Take 6, New York Voices, Nils Landgren, Incognito, Billy Cobham, Ivan Lins, Larry Carlton, Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, John Miles, Ack van Rooyen, Zaz, George Benson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jakob Collier, Quincy Jones,... He is Lead trumpeter at the SWR Big Band since 2013.

He regularly plays with Nuremberg symphoners, Nuremberg City Theater, Regensburg Theater and St. Gallen Theater / Switzerland.

He has played several productions at the Deutsches Theater, including Rat Pack, and has been a permanent assistant in musical productions at the Gärtnerplatz Theater since 2006.

Since October 2013 lecturer for jazz trumpet at the Munich University of Music.
