Martin Zenker, born in 1970, graduated from the Richard Strauss Conservatory as a classical double bassist in 1992, but then turned to jazz. He has played with jazz legends such as Jimmy Cobb, James Moody, Eartha Kidd, Billy Hart, Ed Thigpen and Mike LeDonne. His work is documented on over 50 albums. From 2008 to 2012 he was professor of jazz double bass in Seoul, South Korea, and since 2014 he has been head of the bachelor's degree program for jazz in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, which he established. Martin Zenker has been a lecturer at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts since 2018 and has also been responsible for internationalization matters at the Jazz Institute since 2022. He is also a board member of the IASJ and a lecturer at the GMPU Klagenfurt. In 2019, he was awarded the honorary professorship of the State Conservatory of Mongolia.
