The 16th International Jazz Workshop of the Jazz Institute of the University of Music and Theater Munich (HMTM) will take place from December 8 to 11, 2025. This year, André Charlier (drums) and Benoît Sourisse (piano, Hammond organ) from the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (Paris) will work with the students in the Munich University Jazz Orchestra.
The highlight of this iconic duo's visit to the French jazz scene will be the workshop's final concert on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in Saal X at Gasteig HP8. Tickets are available from München Ticket.
For several years now, the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL) in Paris has been organizing a European big band workshop, in which students from the HMTM Jazz Institute regularly participate. Now the two exceptional French musicians André Charlier (drums) and Benoît Sourisse (piano, Hammond organ) are coming to Munich to work on a diverse program with the entire Munich University Jazz Orchestra.
André Charlier and Benoît Sourisse, known as the duo Charlier/Sourisse, have maintained a musical and personal partnership of exceptional quality and longevity for over 30 years. The duo has collaborated on numerous albums with artists such as Didier Lockwood, Biréli Lagrène, Philip Catherine, Jerry Bergonzi, Kenny Garrett, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Alex Sipiagin, Perico Sambeat, Bendik Hofseth, Randy Brecker, and Tierney Sutton.
